J’ai fait un petit tour sur le campus de Georgetown ce soir après le boulot. En fait je cherchais les footeux de l’Ambassade et du coup j’ai un peu fait le tour des installations sportives du campus. Même si Georgetown n’est pas très étendu, on trouve tout ce qu’on veut comme sports, notamment dans le Yates, un grand complexe omnisport où je devrais m’inscrire. J’ai même croisé une vingtaine de personnes qui s’amusaient avec un ballon ovale…! J’ai pas pu m’empêcher d’aller les voir… peut être que je les rejoindrai un de ces 4 pour un “touché”.
Bon tout ça pour introduire un article sur les matchs des équipes universitaires de Georgetown - surnommés les “Hoyas” - auquel j’ai pu assister avec quelques potes de l’Ambassade. J’ai vu un match de football américain peu après mon arrivée sur le terrain du campus, non loin des vieux bâtiments de l’université, et un match de Ice Hockey du côté d’Arlington (juste de l’autre côté du Potomac).
La mascotte de Georgetown c’est le fameux bulldog pas très commode ci-contre.
Apparemment il n’a pas intimidé l’équipe de football qui affrontait les “Hoyas” au match qu’on a vu puisque ces derniers ont pris une belle marée en fin de match…apparemment ils sont pas très forts. Enfin le résultat importe peu, ce qui était intéressant c’était l’ambiance de kermesse dans le froid au milieu du campus avec des supporters assez nombreux tous aux couleurs du Bulldog évidemment. Le football américain a beau être une succession d’action plus ou moins confuses d’une durée rarement supérieure à 3s, on assiste parfois à de jolis gestes (longues passes millimétrées ou gros plaquages) pour lesquels toute l’équipe exulte soudainement… sachant que l’équipe c’est 11 joueurs sur le terrain et 60 sur le bord…
sur cette photo en_pleine_action.JPG, on voit très bien à quoi ressemble une séquence de football américain : des gens qui courent, d’autres qui se rentrent dedans…tout ça est très intense et représente en fait des combinaisons travaillées et retravaillées…c’est un peu des robots les types même si parfois on voit bien que les quarterbacks sont obligés d’improviser - le quaterback étant le seul mec qui pèse vraiment sur le jeu puisque lui est sûr d’avoir le ballon au moins…
Très beau travail du n°39 des “Hoyas” qui contrarie l’attaque adverse en prenant le 24 blanc à la gorge mais on sent que le quaterback (le 15 blanc) va faire la passe au mec qui a démarré en bas à droite….non ? bon je débute dans ce sport obscure…
A la fin du match, après s’être sauvagement sauté dessus pendant 4 quart-temps de 20min, tout le monde se réconcilie (contre la maraichaussée dirait Monsieur Romain…) : tout-le-monde-est-ami-a-la-fin.JPG
Le Hockey c’est très sympa aussi et assez physique mais bon Simon pourra vous en parler plus précisément sur son blog en tant que fan des “Canadiens de Montréal”.

Bon je crois que les Hoyas ont gagné largement cette fois-ci mais les autres ont bien pété les plombs à la fin avec un joueur et le coach virés et 2 mecs “en prison” en même temps…
Sur la patinoire d’à côté, j’ai pu encouragé les filles d’American University contre les New-yorkaises de Columbia il me semble mais ça n’a pas suffit…

changement de programme… le MAE veut me recruter dès les premier avril (et non, ce n’est pas une mauvaise blague) c’est a dire que je vais devoir faire passer mon année de VI pour un PFE. et comme a la base ca me servait de stage de 2A, je retourne a montreal pour 2 mois de stage dans le labo de mon prof (enfin ca, c’est pas encore confirmé) Si t’as d’autres idées, fais les passer, ca me servira !!
Bref, si tu veux venir dans le nord, va falloir faire vite, parceque dans moins de 3mois (ca va venir super vite, ca fait peur) je commence a bosser

au pire je peux tjrs venir + tard avant que tu repartes en prenant 1 journée ou 2 de congés.
Dis moi vite quelles dates te conviennent (faut réserver le greyhound avant demain si c’est pour le weekend prochain…)
et tant mieux si ya moyen de faire du ski ;o) (chui sérieux là…le mont tremblant par exemple) ou de la peche sous la glace ou du chien de traineau ou de voir les canadiens ou un concert, un simulateur de saut d’obstacle à cheval…
